Lula Oleta Gowin

Lula Oleta Gowin, 86, of Emory, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at Carriage House Manor in Sulphur Springs. Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow in Dunbar Cemetery.

Oleta was born on March 27, 1928 in Rains County, to William Theodore and Susie Viola Barrett Powell. She married Elige Gowin on September 4, 1944 in Emory. She was a member of Bright Star Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter: Cindrea “Cindy” Gowin of Sulphur Springs; 2 sisters: Betty Bumgardner, of Wichita Falls, and Carolyn High, and husband, Don, of Belton; 2 nieces: Debbie Suttle, and husband, Quinton; Sheila McCormack, and husband, Huck, both of Sulphur Springs; nephew: Paul Lane of Sulphur Springs; numerous other loving family and friends.

Preceded by: parents, husband, Elige Gowin, in 1993; 4 sisters: Colleen Barnum, Marguerite Potts, Pattie Lane and Doris Smith.

Officiating will be Bro. Jerry Jackson and Justin High. Serving as pallbearers will be, Don Gowin, Ronnie Gowin, Danny Pat Gowin, Don High, Paul Lane, Michael Bumgardner. Numerous other loving nieces and nephews, and other loving family and friends.
