A drier than normal March puts Sulphur Springs below the average rainfall amount for the first three months of the year. Recorded moisture at the official city Water Treatment Plant in March was only 1.45 inches, about 2.8 inches below the norm. The city averages 10.35 inches of rain for the first three months of any given year and the 2013 first three-month total is 7.71 inches, a deficit of 2.64-inches. We normally get 4.33 inches of rain during April with temperatures about 7-degrees warmer than March.
