stapletonphoto 0001A funeral service for Alice Stapleton of Saltillo will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Jimmy Don Goldsmith, Rev. Michael Thornburg, Rev. John Ford and Rev. C. J. Duffey officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Land Cemetery, with Frank Griffin, Ben Griffin, Zack Griffin, Tyler Hughes, Bobby Goldsmith, Travis Allan, John Ford, Jr. , Randy Davison and Paul Burkett serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Rev. C. J. Duffey. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (10:00 a.m.), at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Alice Stapleton passed away at her residence, Monday afternoon, December 10, 2012. She was born in Greenville, on August 18, 1931, the daughter of Jessie White Ellsworth and Vida Bea (Dulany) Ellsworth. She married Robert L. Stapleton in Emory on July 3, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1994.

She was a homemaker and she was of the Presbyterian faith.

Survivors include: three daughters, Yvonna Goldsmith and husband, Jimmy Don, of Saltillo; Darla Asbill of Point and Marianna Thornburgh and husband, Michael, of Gilmer; sister, Gloria Ford and husband, John, of Campbell; brother, Kerry Ellsworth and wife, Judy, of Hugh Springs; niece, Karen Stapleton of Greenville; grandchildren, Frank Griffin, Ben Griffin, Zack Griffin, Alicia Denton, Tyler Hughes, Bobby Goldsmith, Travis Allan and Mattie Goldsmith and several great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Brian Lee Stribling and brother, Tom Ellsworth.

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
