A graveside service for J. D. Gilbert, age 78, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at South Liberty Cemetery, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012, with Rev. Jimmy Gilbert officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
J. D. Gilbert passed away Monday, October 29, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Hopkins County on December 14, 1933, the son of Gordon Barrett Gilbert and Icy Pearl (Campbell) Gilbert.
He was a retired rancher/farmer and a member of South Liberty Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include: two sisters, Clemmie Lee Crouch of Boston Georgia and Tiny Lou DeMoss of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; nephews, Kevin and Shawn Chapman and niece Cindy.
He was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Ann Alexander and brother, Robert Gilbert.
Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
