Memorial Services for Michael (Mike) Kent McCollum, 61 of Emory, are scheduled for Friday, August 24, 2012 at 2:30 pm at the Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Chapel. Mr. McCollum was born April 6, 1951 in Brady, TX to David Dewhurst and Willie Mae Gross McCollum. He died Saturday August 18, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs.
Michael married Linda Gail Wise in Wilburton, OK on August 17, 1968, they were married for 44 years.
Mr. McCollum worked in the oil field as Superintendent of Dual Drilling Company for approximately 30 years. He & Linda also had a Canton residence at Deen's RV for 14 years and they worked every 1st Monday operating Commanche Creek Cache food concession for the last 12 1/2 years. Michael was a Full Gospel Christian and an amazing Dad and Popol.
Mr. McCollum is survived by his wife, Linda Gail McCollum of Emory, son Kevin McCollum and wife Melissa of Tow, TX, daughter Kandi McCollum Blase and husband James of Houston, TX, mother Willie Mae McCollum of Mason, TX, 2 sisters, Dorothy Mitchell of Odessa, TX, and Sandra Clark of Brady, TX, a brother Brent McCollum of Mason, TX, and 4 grandchildren: Kristan, Kourtney, Katie, and Daniel.
Preceded by: his father D.D. McCollum, 2 brother in laws: Coy Mitchell and Curtis Clark.
