
Funeral service for Hazle Folmar Terry, age 100, of the Bonanza Community, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Lake Fork Baptist Church, FM 515, Alba, Texas with Rev. David Smith and Rev. Perry Crisp officiating. Visitation tol be Wednesday evening 6:30 - 8:30 pm under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Mrs. Terry passed away Monday, July 16, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Como, Texas to Jeff and Luda Folmar, March 25, 1912 and moved to Yantis in her childhood where she grew up and graduated from high school. At the age of 14, Hazle was saved during a revival at the First Baptist Church in Yantis, Texas and was baptized in a stock tank nearby. She just recently showed some of her daughters this particular stock tank. Mrs.Terry has been an active member of the Lake Fork Baptist Church in Alba, TX. She has always been active in the churches she attended, especially playing the piano and singing. Mrs. Terry was very talented in many ways. Her hobbies were quilting, cooking, and canning. She is known throughout the area for her home-cooking, especially, her peach cobblers. Her cooking and canning skills earned her notoriety when she sold her Salsa recipe to Walt Garrison Foods about 18 months ago. Her original recipe of Salsa and variations of it can be seen on the shelves of several grocery stores in Texas and Oklahoma.
Hazle married Custer Terry of the Bonanza Community April 14, 1934 who preceded her in death in September, 1989. God blessed this union with six daughters by which she is survived. They are: Helen Sullivan and husband, Wayne, Farmers Branch, Texas; Cloell Barton and husband, Carlton, Rockwall, TX; Reba Wilson and husband, Carrell, Brashear, TX; and Glenda Terry of Kaufman, TX. She is, also survived by 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was, also, precede in death by her parents, Jeff and Luda Folmar, 1 Son-in-law, Freddie Harrison, 1 Grandson, 1 Great-Grandson, and 10 siblings.
Mrs. Terry's interment will be at the Elm Cemetery, FM 514, North of Emory, following the funeral service.
