The Paris Junior College Board of Regents recently took action that could save families of some high school students in Sulphur Springs some money. The board approved a waiver of a portion of the tuition for dual credit students. As of this fall, students who are enrolled in college level classes being taught in local high schools during the regular school day will pay less for that college course. High school students living outside the taxing district but within the college service area, such as those in Sulphur Springs, will pay tuition of $37 per semester credit hour for these courses. That’s a reduction of 45%. In addition PJC will provide dual credit scholarships for students who participate in the federal free lunch program. PJC President Dr. Pam Anglin says the reduction in dual credit tuition will hopefully encourage more high school students to enroll in college level classes while attending high school and begin their college career.
