Joan Mohnssen, 83, passed away August 30 at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, FL due to Alzheimer’s complications. Born in East Chicago, Indiana, she was an Indiana University graduate and married college sweetheart, Carter L. Mohnssen (deceased 1975) in 1953. They were transferred by the H. D. Lee Company to Sulphur Springs, TX in 1974 after living in Colorado, Missouri, Scotland and Belgium. She was very active with friends, family and the Empty Stocking program in Sulphur Springs until moving to Orange Park, FL in 2007.

Mrs. Mohnssen is survived by daughters Cheryl (Steve) Walsh of Orange Park, FL, Carie (Gary) Cooper of Tyler, TX, grandchildren Shannon (Brad) Voss, Jennifer Walsh, Sarah (Jeremy) Webster, Hannah Cooper and eight great-grandchildren.  She was a life-long Chicago Cubs and sports fan but her real passion was spending time with her grandchildren and great-children.
