Miller Grove News 08/27/2014

Another week of August heat! I am looking forward to the cooler temperatures that should be just around the corner. Phillip Jennings had a nice retirement party Friday afternoon. Cake and punch were served to FEC employees to celebrate Phillip’s last official day of work.

Sunday afternoon the County Line School historical marker program committee met to discuss the inscription that was proposed by the state historical commission. We made suggested changes and will return to the state for approval. The program committee consists of Mary Burns, Gail Garmon, Alvis Gilbert, Clinton Lennon, Lewis Watts, and myself. Mary was unable to attend but Gail Garmon passed along her suggestions.

I would like to pass my condolences along to the family of Howard Garrett. As I understand, he passed away in the early morning hours Sunday, Aug. 24. Howard was a good man and known by many in our community. He leaves a wife, Cornelia Garrett, and many other family members.

I hope all of the schools that started back this week had a successful first day. Seems like the summer has passed by pretty quickly.
Happy Birthday this week to Kyle Crow, Darin Petty & Linzy Joe Harland on Aug. 24; Shane Watson, Niki Ragan, & Barbara (Spinks) Lynn on Aug. 25; and Richelle (Flecker) Johnson on Aug. 29.

Happy 25th Anniversary to my uncle and aunt, Ronny and Kathy Darrow, on Aug. 30.
