Funeral Services for Thomas Mims, age 55 of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Rev. Al Davis, Rev. Jerry McCoy II and Rev. Neal Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Richard McCoy, Roy McCoy, Harold Ball, Charles Ball, Jr., David Ball and Todd Parnell, Jeff Brown and Aaron Major serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Mr. Mims died on Friday, August 22, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on June 16, 1959, the son of Thomas J. “T.J.” and Mildred Faye Cession Mims. He was a concrete finisher by trade.
He married Shelly Renea Brown on September 11, 1984 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She survives.
Other survivors include: sons, Thomas David Mims and wife, Samantha of Hawkins, TX and Joseph Johnson and wife, Crystal of Bullard, TX; daughter, Michelle Funk and husband, Mark of Sulphur Springs and Victoria Mims also of Sulphur Springs, father, T.J. Mims and Debbie Gates of Gueydan, LA; mother, Mildred Logan and husband, Glenn of Sulphur Springs; sister, Teresa McCoy and husband, Jerry of Terrell, TX; grandchildren, Joyclyn Mims, Kade Mims, Audrey Johnson, David Johnson, Logan Johnson, Abigail Mosley and Autumn Mosley.
