Miller Grove ISD Breaks Ground On New Track


Miller Grove ISD Board of Trustees Secretary Bret Garrett, member Ray Sparks, and President Brandon Darrow; Anna Ferguson, who donated a portion of the land where the new track will be built); and board members, Doug Hall, Vice President Eric Mabe, John Wilbur and Clark May officially break ground on the new MGISD track project Monday.

Miller Grove ISD board members officially broke ground on the site of the new school track on Monday, May 13. Joining the trustees for the occasion just prior to Monday night’s board meeting was Anna Ferguson, who donated a portion of the land where the new track will be built.

The new track will be an 8-lane lighted UIL-sanctioned track. The south side of the track will be about 90 feet from the north side of the baseball field. It is not part of the $2 million bond project, but should tie into the new Multipurpose Center. With the restrooms and potential concessions area of the Multipurpose Center accessible from the track.

Symmetry Turf Sports Field Construction was contracted to construct the track, which school officials report is expected to be completed this summer.

The track will be paid for out of maintenance and operations tax funds, according to MGISD Superintendent Steve Johnson.
