The Hopkins County Marine Corp League honored Peace Officers on Celebration Plaza Wednesday morning. The simple ceremony included the Policeman’s Prayer and the playing of taps. This is one of many events planned for the League this May.
At 0800 (8AM) sharp, Detachment Commandant R.W. Derb Goodman and fellow members lowered all flags on Celebration Plaza. Members of several branches of law enforcement looked on.
May will be a busy month for the Detachment. They will conduct events at several local cemeteries, place crosses and flags, and return the flags of Celebration Plaza to full-staff. The events will culminate on May 27th when they hope a special appearance of ‘Big Sarge’ will occur at the Veterans Memorial.
