Lady Cats Softball Gets Dramatic Walk Off Homer to Defeat Lindale, 7-6 Friday at Home

The Lady Cats’ softball team snatched victory from the jaws of defeat when Lady Cat Kate Womack socked a three run walk off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Lady Cats edged Lindale, 7-6 at Lady Cat Park Friday night (April 12). Lindale had scored three runs in the top of the seventh to go ahead of the Lady Cats, 6-4 and set up Womack’s heroics.

Earlier the game went back and forth. Lindale got off to a good start scoring three first inning runs to lead 3-0.

The Lady Cats got a run back as Brinklee Driver hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first to cut the deficit to 3-1. Driver was 1 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.

The Lady Cats tied the score at 3-3 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. The Lady Cats went up 4-3 with a single run in the bottom of the fourth.

It remained 4-3 until both teams had their big innings in the seventh. Bailey Haggerty got the pitching win going all seven innings allowing nine hits and six runs with five strikeouts and a walk. Womack was 3 for 4 with the home run, a run scored and three RBIs. Addison Caddell was 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored. Kelsey Wallace was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Alli Fite was 1 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI. Nylah Lindley was 1 for 3 with a run scored.

The Lady Cats outhit the Lady Eagles, 10-9. The close call improved the Lady Cats district record to 7-1. They remain in first place. Their season record is now 21-5. The Lady Cats will have a chance to avenge their only district loss next Tuesday evening as they play Mount Pleasant at Lady Cat Park.
