SSHS One-Act Play Advances

The Sulphur Springs High School One-Act Play, Jules Verne Eats a Rhinoceros, advanced during district competition in the Sulphur Springs High School Auditorium Tuesday (March 5). Junior Rachel Bramlett was named Best Actress. Junior Chase Berry made the All-Star Cast. Senior Hagen Hunt was selected Honorable Mention, All-Star Cast. The play is described as a wacky time-shifting farce recounting the career and personal milestones of legendary female journalist Nellie Bly. A public performance took place Sunday afternoon at the Auditorium. Cast members include Rachel Bramlett as Nellie Bly, Ben Braddy as fiction writer Jules Verne, Anthony Arroyo as legendary journalist Joseph Pulitzer and Chase Berry as a love interest, Other cast members include Hagen Hunt, Joseph Baxley, Johnathan Johnson, Nathan Braddy, Reagan Kesting, Rorie Young, Caitlynn Monaghen, AllieGrace Woodard and Caleb Talmage. Crew and alternates include Belinda Flores, Tre Ransom, Cody Queen, Kennedy Dicus, Crystal Flores, Haylee Fletcher, Brandon Williams, Emilie Gotcher and Stage Manager Lucia Yanez. Bi-District competition is at Texas High March 26-27.
