Margie Ree McQueen

Funeral services for Margie Ree Mitchell McQueen 82, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Morning Chapel Baptist Church with Bishop Nelson Gatlin officiating and Pastor Jerry Higgins assisting. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. There will be no formal visitation. Mrs. McQueen passed away on February 14, 2019 at Kindred Hospital in Dallas.

Margie was born September 22, 1936 in Linden, Texas, the daughter of Herman C. Mitchell and Mamie Boyd Mitchell. She married Cleveland McQueen on January 28, 1955 in Sulphur Springs, and he survives. Margie was a sales Rep for Verizon where she retired and then went to work for Walmart as a sales clerk.  She was a member of Mitchell Chapel COGIC, where she joined as a teenager. She was a Sunday School Superintendent and Secretary. She was a member of YWCC (Young Women’s Christian Council) and sung with the Gospel Chorus. Margie loved working puzzles and singing.

In addition to her husband, Cleveland, she is survived by her son, Kenneth Odell McQueen and wife Stephanie of San Antonio, her daughter, Tabatha Ethelian McQueen of Sulphur Springs, brother, James Mitchell of Las Vegas NV, sisters, Maggie Stevens of Apple Valley, CA, and Irene Cheatom of Los Angeles, CA, grandchildren, T’Kaya McQueen, Kierra McKinnes, and Takeisha Black and God-daughter Jaslyn Higgins, three adopted daughters, Marilyn Taylor Walker and husband Matthew of Garland, TX, Deborah Hawkins and husband Kenneth of Little Elm, TX, and Linda McQueen of Tyler.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Herman, Leroy, Charles, and Willie, sisters, Dorothy Pickett, Melba Campbell, Ann Murphy, Novella Moreno, and infant sister Rosella Mitchell.
