Carrillo Happy With Lady Cats Hustle in Tuesday Scrimmage; Host Home Scrimmage Friday

Lady Cats Softball Coach David Carrillo said his Lady Cats played their most complete scrimmage of the season Tuesday night (February 5) in a 6-1 win at Wylie East. Pitcher Bailey Haggerty gave up only 1 run and 3 hits. The Lady Cats pounded out 10 hits. But the veteran softball coach saw something else Tuesday that made him even happier.

Coach Carrillo said the Lady Cats were hustling all over the field. He said he noticed it on the bases and when Lady Cats were going after balls on defense. A case in point he said was a hit to the outfield by Abbi Baier. Coach Carrillo said she ran hard and made a triple out of it. He said he hopes the hustle carries on into a Friday scrimmage and then into the start of the regular season next week. Coach Carrillo said that’s what he expects from Lady Cats softball.

He said he likes the pitching depth he has on this year’s team and the way batters getting hits pick up teammates who may have a hitless night.

The Lady Cats have a home scrimmage scheduled Friday night at Lady Cat Park against North Lamar, weather permitting.
