Saltillo Lady Lions 2-0 in District Play Avinger Tuesday

The Saltillo Lady Lions went to 2-0 in district play with a lopsided 89-3 win over Union Hill on Saturday (January 5). Saltillo Coach Colton Smith said the Lady Lions slowed the game down as much as they could, did not press and worked on a zone defense they don’t run as much as their normal man to man.

The Lady Lions scored 24 points in each of the first three quarters and had 17 points in the fourth quarter. Union Hill went scoreless in the first and third quarters and had only 2 points in the second quarter and 1 point in the fourth quarter.

For the Lady Lions, Maddy Smith had 18 points, Brittney Peeples had 17 points, Paisley Kastner, Anna Reeder and Chandler Bain all had 14 points. Lorena Castro had 6 points. Christy Marquez, Jocelyn Ochoa and Kristina Wade had 2 points each.

The Lady Lions are 18-8 for the season. They play next at Avinger Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
