Lady Cats Open Season with Win

The Lady Cats’ basketball team opened the season with a 37-26 victory over Paris in Wildcats Gym Saturday. The victory marked the coaching debut in Sulphur Springs for Brittney Tisdell. The game also saw former Lady Cats Coach Jeff Chapman return to the gym as head coach at Paris.

The Lady Cats outscored Paris in every quarter and built the lead throughout the game. The Lady Cats led 11-7 after the first quarter, 18-12 at halftime, 29-21 after three quarters and 37-26 at the end. Autumn Tanton led the Lady Cats with 14 points. Te’Arria Rose had 6 points on two three pointers. Sadavia Porter and Aliyah Abron scored 5 points and each had a three. Nylah Lindley score 4 points. Danielle Godbolt scored 3 points on a three pointer. Peaches Jackson of Paris led all scorers with 16 points. The Lady Cats shot 45% from two point range and 26% from behind the three point arc.

The Lady Cats recorded 21 deflections and 12 steals. The Lady Cats had 17 turnovers. The Lady Cats, 1-0 for the season, play at Liberty-Eylau Monday at 2:15 p.m.
