Five SSISD Schools Qualify for Free Meals for All Students; Other SSISD School Students May Qualify

The Sulphur Springs Independent School District, Child Nutrition Department is announcing a change to Its policy for serving meals to children served under the National School Lunch Program and School
Breakfast Program for DOUGLASS ECLC, BARBARA BUSH, BOWIE, LAMAR, AND TRAVIS for the school year 2018-2019. These schools qualify to operate the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program and will provide breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection
of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This new approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.

Students in Sulphur Springs Elementary School, Middle School, and High School may qualify for free or reduced meals according to a letter from the district to parents:

Dear Parent/Guardian:
Children need healthy meals to learn. Sulphur Springs ISD offers healthy meals every school day. Breakfast costs $1.00 for all Schools 4th-12th ; lunch costs $2.25 for 4th-5th, and $2.50 for 6th-12th. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced-price meals. Reduced-price is $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch. If you received a notification letter that a child is directly certified for free or reduced-price meals, do not complete an application. Let the school know if any children in the household attending school are not listed in the letter. The questions and answers that follow and attached directions provide additional information on how to complete the application. Complete only one application for all the students in the household and return the completed application to Your child’s school or Child Nutrition Office, 631 Connally St. Sulphur Springs, TX 75482 .
