Phil Tipton

Phil Tipton, a 34 year resident of Sulphur Springs, TX, passed away June 10, 2018.  He was born October 24, 1941, in Dallas, TX, to Hoyt Gay and Katie Jo (Lusk) Tipton.  Phil was married on September 7, 1965, to the love of his life, Janie Wilson.  A member of Shannon Oaks Church, he was a strong Christian man.  The first thing Phil would tell you was about the Lord and he had a large group of friends from church.  He was a middle school principal for 30 years and after retiring he became a probation officer.   During that time Phil was introduced to the prison ministry and served for over 10 years caring for and ministering to the prisoners.  He was a caring man and will be missed by his family and friends.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of 52 years: Janie Tipton; daughter: Sherri Woloszyn and husband Tomasz; son: Sean Tipton and wife Sandy; grandchildren: Anna Tipton and Eric Tipton; sister: Charlotte Kent and husband Joe; and brother: Steve Tipton and wife Carol.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held 2:00pm Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Shannon Oaks Church, 1113 E.
