Fall Festival Board Seeks Donations

Hopkins County Fall Festival enters its 49th year of providing a festival, county fair atmosphere honoring the traditions and providing new and exciting venues to celebrate the county and its heritage. As a non-profit board, the Fall Festival Board is asking for input and opinions as well as donations to provide an exciting festival for 2018. The cost of the traditional festival continues to increase each year and the board is seeking ways to provide the event without charging for entry to the Festival.

Each year the volunteers that make up the board have to pay for the use of the Civic Center, the High School, some events and the entertainment all without charging for entry to the Festival. The board also provides scholarships to the winner of the Cover Girl Contest and donates to a Charity that benefits children in the area as well. Spring is the time of year the board needs money coming in so they can pay deposits to book the Entertainment and Attractions for the Festival, according to board members.

The Festival was moved to October several years ago to once again have it the same time as the Stew Cook Off at the Community’s request and some years it has worked and others the weather has caused us to not have a profitable year. The board values the community as well as those who come from all over to attend the festival. This year, they decided to try a different approach to fundraising by asking for donations. Receive some sponsorship from businesses they also seek contributions from the community. All Donations to the non-profit organization will be a tax deductible.

Donations may be made here.
