Wood County Sheriff’s Report January 31- February 6, 2018

January 31st

At 3:38 a.m., horses were reported out on HWY 80 near Mineola.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4700 near Winnsboro; at approximately 4:07 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and it was towed by Wyatt’s Towing.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 3114 near Quitman; at approximately 7:01 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3854 near Hawkins, at approximately 8:27 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to Tejas Circle near Quitman, at approximately 10:21 a.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3440 near Hawkins, at approximately 10:47 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3420 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:01 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 5:05 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 3220 near Quitman.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 80 near Mineola; at approximately 7:13 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 49 near Mineola, at approximately 7:26 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate an activity.

At 8:45 p.m., horses were reported out on HWY 80 near Mineola.

At 9:00 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154/CR 3230 near Quitman.

At 9:19 p.m., horses were reported out on FM 2869 near Hawkins.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3580 near Winnsboro, at approximately 9:41 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 2958 near Alba; at approximately 10:00 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

At 10:13 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154/CR 3230 near Quitman.

February 1st

At 10:20 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 515 near Winnsboro.

At 11:31 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154/CR 3230 near Quitman.

At 3:22 p.m., horses were reported out on CR 3860 near Hawkins.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:51 p.m., in reference to harassment that occurred on FM 14 near Hawkins. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2389 near Alba, at approximately 4:03 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s mailbox.

At 6:00 p.m., cows were reported out on SPUR 514 near Yantis.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1973 near Yantis, at approximately 7:03 p.m., in reference to a possible self inflicted gun shot. Deputies spoke with the parties involved and determined it was an accident. The individual was transported to the hospital.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1994 near Yantis, at approximately 8:02 p.m., in reference to a structural fire. The fire was out, prior to the deputies’ arrival.

February 2nd

At 3:57 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 11 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 5387 near Yantis, at approximately 6:17 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A female, 68, was found deceased in her residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and ordered an autopsy.

At 8:52 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2966 near Yantis.

At 10:32 a.m. cows were reported out on FM 515/CR 4250 near Winnsboro.

At 10:40 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 2100 near Quitman.

At 11:13 a.m., horses were reported out on CR 3875 near Mineola.

At 1:01 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2918 near Alba, at approximately 1:26 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 1799 near Mineola, at approximately 4:31 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 5:48 p.m., in reference to a scam that occurred on FM 2081 near Yantis. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 182 near Quitman; at approximately 6:39 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Walnut St. in Winnsboro; at approximately 7:18 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3859 near Mineola, at approximately 8:02 p.m., in reference to burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1591 near Alba, at approximately 8:24 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies issued Criminal Trespass Warnings and cleared the scene.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1970 near Yantis, at approximately 9:29 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to Lake Holbrook Point, at approximately 9:41 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

February 3rd

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3270 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:44 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individuals.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1326 near Quitman, at approximately 12:54 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with the parties involved and cleared the scene.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 515 near Winnsboro; at approximately 1:40 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 154 near Yantis; at approximately 3:29 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

At 7:52 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37/CR 4930 near Quitman.

At 10:31 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 4255 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4930 near Quitman, at approximately 1:23 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Prior to the deputies’ arrival, the actor left the scene. Deputies located the actor on Meadowbrook St. in Quitman. Richard Brasher, 52, of Mineola, was arrested for Driving While License Invalid.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:39 p.m., in reference to a theft that occurred on FM 2225 near Quitman. A known actor stole timber from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 2:18 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 1643 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1416 near Quitman, at approximately 6:10 p.m., in reference to 911 abuse. Ernest Brown, 60, of Quitman, was arrested for Silent Abusive Call/Electronic Communication to 911 Service.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 6:28 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle at Lake Winnsboro; at approximately 9:32 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2377 near Alba; at approximately 10:35 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1970 near Yantis, at approximately 11:38 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individuals.

February 4th

At 12:17 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 2590 near Mineola.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2546 near Mineola, at approximately 12:19 a.m. Deputies located the individuals and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to Cimmeron Trail near Hawkins, at approximately 12:30 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with the parties involved and cleared the scene.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 5980 near Yantis, at approximately 1:29 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged a golf course. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Winnsboro, at approximately 2:09 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 42, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace was notified and an autopsy was ordered. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on PR 5899 near Yantis; at approximately 3:18 a.m. Lane Ogle, 19, of Yantis, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

At 12:23 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4864 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 69 near Quitman, at approximately 12:48 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 2:53 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 4:17 p.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle that occurred on FM 69 near Como. A known actor took the reporting party’s vehicle without authorization.

At 6:14 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 2966 near Quitman; at approximately 7:46 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 852 near Winnsboro, at approximately 8:18 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. The individual was located and went to the hospital.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 11 near Alba; at approximately 9:18 p.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

February 5th

At 6:59 a.m., horses were reported out on FM 3056/CR 2688 near Hawkins.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1905 near Yantis; at approximately 8:57 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and Joes Wrecker towed the vehicle.

At 10:25 a.m., horses were reported out on FM 312 near Winnsboro.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:57 a.m., in reference to a scam that occurred on FM 17 near Alba. Actors, or actors unknown, messaged the reporting party on Facebook about being approved for a grant.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1560 near Alba, at approximately 11:08 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2546 near Mineola, at approximately 11:44 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

At 11:48 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 2100/CR 1112 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:18 p.m., in reference to a theft that occurred on FM 1643 near Winnsboro. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a storage building from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2966 near Yantis, at approximately 1:43 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. A known actor damaged the reporting party’s property.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4540 near Winnsboro, at approximately 1:48 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a steel chain from the reporting party’s vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2270 near Mineola, at approximately 3:40 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 49 near Mineola, at approximately 3:41 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies spoke with the owner who accidentally set it off and secured the building.

At 5:49 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 312/CR 3180 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to Quitman St. in Alba, at approximately 8:29 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 49/FM 778 near Mineola; at approximately 8:36 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 8:53 p.m., in reference to harassment that occurred on CR 3496 near Hawkins. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

February 6th

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Winnsboro, at approximately 2:27 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 6605 near Mineola, at approximately 7:28 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A female, 61, was found deceased in her residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and ordered an autopsy.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 9:26 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief that occurred on Lloyd St. in Yantis. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

At 10:32 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to Coke Rd. in Winnsboro, at approximately 11:14 a.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the scene.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3480 near Hawkins, at approximately 3:18 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the day.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2620 near Mineola, at approximately 5:41 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2610 near Mineola, at approximately 11:00 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Between the dates of January 31 and February 6, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included Police Departments and Child Protective Services.

Between the dates of January 31 and February 6, Wood County Sheriff’s Investigators obtained 3 arrest warrants and arrested the individuals, and recovered $6,000 worth of stolen property.

Total Jail Count – 141 inmates – 115 males and 26 females.
