Lady Cat Softball Pre-District Season Record Now 4-1

The Lady Cats’ softball team lost their first game of the season as they were shutout, 6-0 by McKinney at Emory Rains Friday afternoon (February 16). The Lady Cats only managed 7 singles off of a Lady Lions’ pitcher over 5 innings. Kelsey Wallace and Brinklee Driver had 2 singles apiece. Sierra Smith, Alli Fite and Macee Hollins had one single each. Bailey Haggerty took the pitching loss giving up 6 runs with only 4 earned and 10 hits. Haggerty walked only 1 and struck out 2. The Lady Cats committed two errors. The Lady Lions had a 3 run first inning and added 2 more runs in the fourth inning and 1 more in the fifth.

The Lady Cats bounced back to defeat Mineola, 11-3 Friday afternoon at Emory Rains. An 8 run third inning made the difference for the Lady Cats. They scored a single run in the top of the second to take a 1-0 lead. After the big top of the third, the Lady Cats went up 9-0. Mineola scored a run in the bottom of the third to make it 9-1. Both teams scored 2 runs in the fourth inning. Bailey Haggerty pitched two scoreless innings to get the win. Cheslee Roberts pitched the final inning and two-thirds. Mineola scored 3 runs on 4 hits and they had an error. The Lady Cats pounded out 12 hits scoring 11 runs and they had no errors. Kelsey Wallace had a triple and a single and was 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs and one run scored. Brinklee Driver hit a triple and was 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored. Macee Hollins also drove home 2 runs and was 1 for 3 with 1 run scored. Alyssa Abron was 2 for 4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Sadie Stroud also hit a triple and was 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored. Sierra Smith was 1 for 1 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Jacklyn Semler was 1 for 1 with an RBI and a run scored. Alli Fite was 1 for 3. Landri Bell was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

The Lady Cats are now 4-1 for the season. They will play at Mineola on Tuesday.
