Wood County Sheriff’s Report February 7-13, 2018

February 7th

At 9:17 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 1643 near Quitman.

At 10:21 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 49 near Mineola.

Deputies were dispatched to Cheyenne near Quitman, at approximately 1:09 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the day.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:36 p.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on CR 1840 near Yantis. Deputies then spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2172 near Quitman, at approximately 3:00 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

At 4:09 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2951 near Alba, at approximately 4:28 p.m., in reference to a structural fire. Alba Fire Department extinguished the fire and the scene was cleared. This case has been forwarded to other agency.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3860 near Mineola, at approximately 6:35 p.m., in reference to an explosion. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4490 near Winnsboro, at approximately 9:28 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2377 near Alba; at approximately 11:06 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2745 near Mineola, at approximately 11:35 p.m., in reference to a 911 call/open line. Upon deputies’ arrival, the caller’s residence was on fire. Mineola Fire Department extinguished the fire. It was determined the fire was caused by an outlet and the scene was cleared.

February 8th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1513 near Alba, at approximately 1:45 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 1:59 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 3920 near Hawkins.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 154/FM 515 near Yantis; at approximately2:18 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

At 3:35 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 3920 near Hawkins.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 1799 near Mineola, at approximately 5:29 a.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies located the activity and cleared the scene.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Indian Gap near Quitman, at approximately 11:29 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to Choctaw near Quitman, at approximately 12:35 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2195 near Quitman, at approximately 12:40 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1580 near Alba; at approximately 1:45 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4660 near Winnsboro, at approximately 2:03 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2465 near Mineola, at approximately 2:48 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. The individual was located and transported to the hospital.

At 4:06 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37/CR 4165 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 4:28 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

At 5:03 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 2100 near Quitman.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 1660 near Alba; at approximately 6:59 p.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2900 near Mineola, at approximately 7:14 p.m., in reference to theft. A known actor stole a temporary tag off of the reporting party’s vehicle. Up until this point, deputies have still not located the temporary tag.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1600 near Alba, at approximately 9:00 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole the reporting party’s bike. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 9:05 p.m., in reference to possible harassment. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to HWY 11 near Leesburg; at approximately 9:15 p.m. Crystal Sims, 36, of Leesburg, was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 2869 near Winnsboro; at approximately 10:10 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2351 near Mineola, at approximately 10:17 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and everything was OK.

February 9th

Deputies were dispatched to PR 6938 near Alba, at approximately 12:12 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Matthew Conner, 23, of Alba, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 154 near Quitman; at approximately 12:49 a.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to 1215 near Quitman, at approximately 2:48 a.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 1804 near Mineola, at approximately 6:45 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 69, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.

At 7:52 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154/CR 3230 near Quitman.

At 9:40 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 3234 near Quitman.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 2245 near Mineola; at approximately 11:12 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

At 11:45 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154/CR 3230 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 12:49 p.m., in reference to fraud that occurred on CR 3130 near Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3990 near Winnsboro, at approximately 3:29 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 2245 near Mineola; at approximately 4:07 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2225 near Quitman, at approximately 5:48 p.m., in reference to an open door. Deputies secured the building and did not notice any items missing. Deputies cleared the scene.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2840 near Mineola, at approximately 5:58 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle at Lake Holbrook point, at approximately 11:44 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

February 10th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3234 near Quitman, at approximately 8:14 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Upon deputies’ arrival, there were no signs of criminal mischief. Deputies cleared the scene.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2210 near Mineola, at approximately 10:54 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and everything was OK.

At 11:30 a.m., horses were reported out on HWY 11 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4450 near Winnsboro, at approximately 2:11 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 852 near Winnsboro; at approximately 4:13 p.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 5:22 p.m., in reference to a burglary that occurred on CR 2164 near Quitman. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

February 11th

Deputies were dispatched to PR 5991 near Yantis, at approximately 7:17 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3811 near Hawkins, at approximately 7:34 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the day.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3427 near Hawkins, at approximately 10:23 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Lisa Wilkinson, 47, of Hawkins, was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4930 near Quitman, at approximately 12:00 p.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Actors, or actors unknown, had taken the reporting party’s vehicle without consent. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2650 near Mineola, at approximately 12:19 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and it was towed by Wyatt’s Towing.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Alba, at approximately 12:21 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4480 near Winnsboro, at approximately 2:05 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 7:05 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the night.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 6645 near Mineola, at approximately 7:58 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

At 9:53 p.m., horses were reported out on HWY 11/FM 1647 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3580 near Winnsboro, at approximately 11:48 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the night.

February 12th

At 9:55 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37 near Winnsboro.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:31 a.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on FM 1795 near Hawkins. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1917 near Yantis, at approximately 12:14 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the scene.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 3234 near Quitman; at approximately 1:30 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2276 near Mineola, at approximately 8:15 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. The individual was located and transported to the hospital.

February 13th

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 2245 near Mineola; at approximately 8:36 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3494 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:50 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Larry Schattel, 55, of Hawkins, was arrested for Assault by Physical Contact.

At 2:27 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 515 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 2:28 p.m., in reference to a scam that occurred on CR 2258 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 3:33 p.m., in reference to harassment. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 182 near Quitman; at approximately 7:14 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and it was towed by Wyatt’s Towing.

Deputies were dispatched to Old Tyler HWY near Mineola, at approximately 7:23 p.m., in reference to harassment. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 2088 near Quitman; at approximately 7:56 p.m. Randel Clanton, Jr., 42, of Quitman, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3400 near Hawkins, at approximately 9:58 p.m., in reference to a possible burglary. Upon deputies’ arrival, there were no signs of forced entry or theft.

Between the dates of February 7 and February 13, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included Police Departments and Emergency Medical Services.

Between the dates of February 7 and February 13, Wood County Sheriff’s Investigators obtained 1 arrest warrant and arrested the individual.

Total Jail Count – 132 inmates – 112 males and 22 females.
