Lady Cats Lose to Choctaw Central of Mississippi

Lady Cats Basketball Coach Jeff Chapman remembers Choctaw Central. When he coached at Idabel in Oklahoma, his team got clobbered by the native American team from Mississippi. Coach Chapman’s current team, the Lady Cats, ranked #9 in Class 5A, suffered their worst loss of the year against Choctaw Central in an Idabel, Oklahoma holiday tournament Friday afternoon, 72-42.

Little seemed to go right for the Lady Cats. Choctaw Central took a 22-9 lead after the first quarter and built the lead throughout the game. One bright spot was the play of Imani Taylor who scored a team high 14 points. Kaylee Jefferson got 13 points. Autumn Tanton added 9 points. Sadavia Porter got 4 points. Danielle Godbolt ended up with 2 points. The Lady Cats shot 41% from the field hitting 16 of 39 shots. They were only 1 of 7, or 14%, from 3-point range. Jefferson hit the three for the Lady Cats. The Lady Cats made 9 of 13 free throws for a respectable 69%. The Lady Cats turned the ball over 25 times. They had 15 rebounds and only 6 assists. The Lady Cats had 13 deflections and 13 steals. Porter had 4 deflections and Godbolt had 4 steals. The Lady Cats had 2 blocks.

The Lady Cats are now 16-3 for the season. They will play another tournament game Saturday at 4 p.m. against either Idabel or Vanoss of Ada, Oklahoma.
