Graveside service for Jerry Clyde Thompson, age 78, of Saltillo, TX will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Matinburg Cemetery, in Pine, TX. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Mr. Thompson passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, TX.
Jerry Thompson was born on May 14, 1939 in Pittsburg, TX, the son of Evan Clyde and Emma Oleta (Garvin) Thompson. He married Connie Joyce Heflin in Mesquite, TX in June of 1959. Jerry was of the Baptist faith and a retired Captain in the US Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Jerry Alan Thompson and wife Louanna, and James Aubrey Thompson and wife Kimberly; grandchildren, Christopher Alan Thompson, James Evan Thompson, and Colby Taylor Thompson; brother Doug Thompson; and sister Evelyn Williams.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bennie Thompson and Jimmy Thompson; and sisters, Mary Thompson and Leta Jewel Thompson.
