James Buster Diamond of Sulphur Springs.

Funeral services for James Buster Diamond, age 80, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Neal officiating and Bro. Jerry Savage assisting.  Interment will follow at Greenpond Cemetery with Austin English, Norris English, Danny Taylor, Kent Wenning, Johnathon Gammill, Casey Hemphill, Jordan Hale and Jackson Lundell serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Cromer, Rod Spence, Claud Spence, Jim Keen, Ted Mapes, Durwood Smith, Carol “Meatball” Meeks, and Billy Bob Cox.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at West Oaks Funeral Home.

James passed away on Sunday, October 8, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs.  James was born on December 23, 1936 in Como, TX, the son of John Buster Diamond and Ida Harris Diamond.  He married Melba Mapes on September 2, 1956 in Como, TX.  She survives.  James was a minister for 63 years pastoring many churches in the area.  Throughout his ministry, James was also employed with City National in Sulphur Springs for 37 years, where he retired as Senior Vice President.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by daughters, Susan Diamond of Sulphur Springs, Laura Taylor and husband Danny of Poteau, OK, Angie Wenning and husband Kent of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Chelsea Suttle, Shelby Gammill, Leslie Hemphill, Kellie Hale, Sallie Taylor, Austin English, Norris English, great-grandsons, Jackson, Jenner, Jude, and sister, Lee Diamond.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Truman Diamond. Memorials may be made to the League Street Church of Christ Youth Funds, 1100 League St S, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.
