Wood County Sheriff’s Report June 14-20, 2017

June 14th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1973 near Yantis, at approximately 9:45 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. When they arrived, everything was good.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 778 near Quitman, at approximately 11:44 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. The individual was responsive and cooperative.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 1885 near Yantis, at approximately 1:21 p.m. The area was searched, but deputies were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 2966 near Yantis, at approximately 2:32 p.m. The area was searched, but deputies were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 2:56 p.m. Brandon Hicks, 35, of Winnsboro was arrested for an outstanding warrant, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility-Alcohol/Drug/Phone/Tobacco.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1903 near Yantis, at approximately 4:21 p.m., in reference to an alarm. The area was checked and everything was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Mineola, at approximately 6:06 p.m., in reference to an assault. Both parties involved denied any physical altercation and were separated for the night.

At 8:11 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 2950 near Alba.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1534 near Alba, at approximately 8:55 p.m., in reference to an alarm. The residence was checked and everything was secure.

Deputies responded to suspicious circumstances on CR 2260 near Mineola, at approximately 11:11 p.m. The individuals were located and everyone was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2659 near Hawkins, at approximately 11:57 p.m., in reference to a shots fired call. Deputies checked into the incident and everything was cleared.

June 15th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2210 near Mineola, at approximately 7:23 a.m., in reference to a theft. When deputies arrived, they were advised a theft did not take place.

At 9:07 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 1804 near Mineola.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 6325 near Mineola, at approximately 9:38 a.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. When deputies arrived, there were no violations to the burn ban.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2427 near Mineola, at approximately 12:03 p.m., in reference to an alarm. After deputies made contact with the homeowner, they were advised it was an accident.

Deputies were dispatched to Lake Holbrook, at approximately 4:14 p.m., in reference to an animal complaint. Prior to arrival, the owner left the scene with the dog.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1522 near Alba, at approximately 8:49 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate suspicious activity.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on Lake Fork Creek bridge, at approximately 9:49 p.m. Deputies assisted the unknown person with a vehicle ride.

June 16th

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 11:19 a.m., in reference to a criminal trespass. Prior to arrival, the known actor left the scene.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 312 near Winnsboro, at approximately 1:14 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. When deputies arrived, there seemed to be a physical altercation, but the other party left prior to arrival.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 1:18 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred on HWY 11 near Winnsboro. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2377 near Alba, at approximately 6:08 p.m., in reference to an alarm. The area was checked and the building was secure.

At 8:42 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 2869 near Hawkins.

At 9:14 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4186 near Quitman.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 2303 near Mineola, at approximately 10:03 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but they were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 10:36 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies located a vehicle that matched the description, parked at a gate. Frank Inscore, 55, of Quitman, was arrested for Public Intoxication.

June 17th

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 3:59 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the area and the building was secure.

Deputies made contact over the phone with the reporting party, at approximately 9:48 a.m., in reference to a theft. A lawn mower was stolen from the reporting party’s residence on CR 4220 near Winnsboro. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2248 near Mineola, at approximately 10:55 a.m., in reference to a Credit/Debit card abuse by a known actor. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1326 near Quitman, at approximately 6:00 p.m. When deputies arrived to the area, everything was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2378 near Alba, at approximately 7:22 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. When deputies arrived, they observed all-terrain vehicles on the road and advised them to leave.

Deputies were dispatched to Lake Holbrook, at approximately 8:03 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3582 near Winnsboro, at approximately 9:11 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Laura Page, 29, of Elysian Field, was arrested for Criminal Mischief.

At 9:50 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 3920 near Hawkins.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 10:13 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the area and the building was secure.

At 10:57 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 3920 near Hawkins.

June 18th

Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:30 a.m., in reference to a disorderly conduct call. Deputies cleared the scene.

Deputies responded to a disturbance on CR 2503 near Mineola, at approximately 5:54 p.m. When deputies arrived, all parties were told to separate for the night.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 5556 near Alba, at approximately 8:46 p.m., in reference to a criminal trespass. The actor left the scene prior to arrival, but deputies were able to conduct a traffic stop on her vehicle. Kellie Tolbert, 33, of Yantis, was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3440 near Hawkins, at approximately 8:56 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. The area was checked and the residence was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 69 near Mineola, at approximately 9:16 p.m., in reference to an assault. Bradley Thompson, 52, of Garland, was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence.

Deputies responded to a disturbance on Lake Holbrook, at approximately 10:19 p.m. The actor left the scene prior to their arrival.

June 19th

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 6:18 a.m., in reference to an alarm. The area was checked and the building was secure.

At 8:17 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 2966 near Yantis.

Deputies assisted a citizen with their dog on CR 1600 near Alba, at approximately 2:27 p.m.

Deputies were dispatched to Lake Hawkins Spillway, at approximately 2:49 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Two individuals were trapped by an alligator, but managed to get out of the spillway unharmed.

Deputies spoke with the complainant at approximately 6:01 p.m., in reference to a theft. A cell phone was stolen by a known actor near Lake Holbrook. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 6:28 p.m., in reference to an alarm. The area was checked and the building was secure.

Deputies responded to a traffic hazard on FM 2966, at approximately 7:09 p.m. Deputies removed a deer carcass from the lane of traffic.

At 7:34 p.m., horses were reported out on FM 2088 near Quitman.

Deputies made contact with the reporting party, at approximately 8:06 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred on CR 1895 near Yantis. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to ETMC, at approximately 9:48 p.m., in reference to a dog bite that occurred on CR 1681 near Alba. The dog will be quarantined for 10 days.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1953 near Yantis, at approximately 10:30 p.m., in reference to an alarm. The area was checked and the building was secure.

June 20th

Deputies were contacted by the reporting party over the phone, at approximately 8:44 a.m., in reference to a criminal trespass. The actor was contacted over the phone, and a criminal trespass warning was issued on CR 4839 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 9:10 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 68, was pronounced dead at approximately 7:00 a.m. An autopsy was ordered by the Justice of the Peace.

At 10:04 a.m., cows were reported out on 1750 N FM 17 near Alba.

Deputies contacted the reporting party over the phone, at approximately 1:01 p.m., in reference to a theft. Jewelry and electronics were stolen from the reporting party’s property on CR 2774 near Mineola. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a traffic hazard on HWY 182 near Alba, at approximately 6:07 p.m. Deputies pushed the vehicle off of the roadway and out of the lane of traffic.

Deputies were dispatched to Lake Holbrook, at approximately 7:52 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3440 near Hawkins, at approximately 10:30 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. When deputies arrived, they advised the individuals to turn the music down.

Between the dates of June 14th and June 20th, Wood County Sheriff Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Police Departments, EMS, Correction Fire, Smith County, and a Commissioner.

Total Jail Count – 142 prisoners – 114 males and 28 females.
