Funeral services for Tony Cooper, 60, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Mel Haven Cemetery with David Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Reggie Thomas, Demetrius Pryor, Hamilton Green, and Daniel Cooper serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Tony passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 at his residence.
He was born on July 17, 1956 in Sulphur Springs, TX, the son of Arthur “AJ” and Arthur Lean Cooper. He was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church. He married Martha Jo Cooper. She preceded him in death in 2002.
Tony is survived by daughter, Bridgette Cooper Maddox (Benard) of Dallas, TX, son, Stephen Johnson (Regina) of Jacksonville, Florida, grandchildren, Truth, Legacy’e, Kimbre (Bridgette), Jenesia, Jamari, Raegin (Stephen), sister, Diann Margadonna of Sulphur Springs, TX, brother, Randy Cooper (Gina) of Quinlan, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Arthur Cooper Sr and Ella Mae Cooper Lewis, Curley and Fannie Lou Harper, great-grandparents, Walter Clay and Lela-Rape-Clay, sister, Brenda Lou Harper, brothers, David Cooper “Chopper” and Robert Cooper, and nephew, David Cooper Jr.
Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
