Cayle Tanner “CT” Penny

Cayle Tanner “CT” Penny, age 19, of Mount Vernon, left his Earthly home on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his home.  CT was born on April 12, 1998 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Clay Penny and Angie Haynes.  CT attended Mount Vernon High School where he was a member of the football, track and the fishing team – more than an athlete, CT was the life of the school and the heart of many of the teachers who spent countless hours with him.  CT was the sweetest kid growing up who turned into the defender of the defenseless and would stand up to anyone who was bullying another student.  If there was a good-time to be had, CT was usually the center of attention.

CT was welder by trade and worked for C.T. Drilling.  King Penny, as he was affectionately known, will be remembered for fast talking, his dry sense of humor, and his no fear – no limits way of life.  CT enjoyed duck hunting and fishing, especially tournaments with his dad – they recently won first place in a tournament.  He loved mudding, four-wheeling and anything he could do outside.  Those who knew CT the best will always remember him for his big heart, the love he had for his beloved family, and the mischievous smirk – that got him out of so much trouble.  He was the best son, brother, uncle, and friend who will missed by all who knew him.

CT is survived by his parents, Clay and Monica Penny and Donald and Angie Haynes, all of Mount Vernon; brothers, Caden Penny, and wife Nikki, of Mount Vernon and Ryan Suitts of Tyler; sisters, Ashley Penny, and fiancé’ Kenneth Sparks, of Talco, Amberlie Penny of Mount Vernon, Shelby Allen, and husband Dakota, of Ada, Oklahoma, and Niki Haynes, and fiancé’ Aaron Huffman, of Mount Pleasant; grandmother, Kay Frazier of Mount Vernon; grandfather, John Penny of Mount Vernon; aunt, Kellie Davis, and husband Keith, of Mount Pleasant; uncles, Greg Penny, and wife Stacy, and Boose Penny, and wife Cyndi; nieces and nephews, Major McCoo, Kingston McCoo, Conner Penny, Cortlyn Penny, Colter Penny, Aiston Allen, Hunter Allen, and Bella Allen; and by a host of other uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives and special friends.

CT was preceded in death by grandparents, Zack Frazier, Betty Penny, Gene Frazier, and Charlie and Thersa Haynes and by uncle, Sydney Haynes.

Funeral services for Cayle Tanner “CT” Penny will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 29, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon with Pastors Jimmy Rogers, Mike Kessler, and Brian Kimball officiating.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery with Tanner Wardrup, James Kirkman, Matt Bench, Zack Carter, Kevi Evans, Hunter Haley, Braden Henderson, Chantz Jeter, and Harley Narramore serving as pallbearers.   Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Sunday evening, at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, there has been an account set up in his memory at the First National Bank of Mount Vernon.
