Panthers Defeat Trojans 10-2

The North Hopkins Panthers defeated the Cumby Trojans in a district baseball game, 10-2 Tuesday at North Hopkins. The Panthers got off to a good start with one run in the bottom of the first and five more in the bottom of the second to lead 6-0.

Cumby scored single runs in the third and sixth innings to cut the deficit to 6-2. North Hopkins added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 10-2. North Hopkins outhit the Trojans 8 to 5. Cumby committed two errors.

For the Trojans, R.J. Valentine was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. Braden Coble was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Ethan Coble was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI. Ethan Coble, Valentine and Braden Coble all pitched for Cumby and Ethan Coble took the loss.

North Hopkins was led by Wyatt Wharton who was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, a stolen base and 2 RBIs. Cooper Adams was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs. Victor Rojo and Chase Williams also had an RBI apiece. Brycen Gellespie, Rojo, Williams and Javier Rojo also had a single each. Wharton got the pitching win for North Hopkins pitching 7 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 runs with 2 walks and 13 strikeouts.
