The Wildcats and Lady Cats’ golf teams began their seasons Monday with new coaches.
After the resignation of Wildcats Golf Coach Ross Funk in November, Wildcats Athletic Director Greg Owens selected his brother Chris Owens as the new Wildcats Coach. Chris Owens had been the Lady Cats Golf Coach for several seasons. Coach Chris Owens’ Wildcats will open the season at Pinecrest Country Club in Longview Monday.
Former standout Lady Cats’ golfer Whitney McDaniel Spigener was chosen as the new Lady Cats Golf Coach. Coach Spigener went to the state golf tournament her senior year at SSHS in 2007. She played college golf at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. Coach Spigener has been a math teacher at SSHS for several years. Coach Whitney McDaniel Spigener’s Lady Cats also open their season Monday at Wood Hollow Golf Course in Spring Hill.
