County Residence Damaged By Fire Wednesday Night

A structure fire on County Road  2553 destroyed the garage, kitchen, and living area but did not damage the bedrooms, according to Hopkins County Fire Chief Andy Endsley. Endsley said the Cumby Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene around 8 p.m. Wednesday night and all units left the area around 11 p.m. The County Fire Marshall’s office is investigating the cause of the blaze.

Endsley said units from Cumby, Arbala, Miller Grove, and the Hopkins County Central Station responded to the fire. Brinker Fire Department covered for the county at the central station during the fire.

Red Cross is assisting the family and the family is staying with other family as a result of the fire.
