Arnor Faye “Pug” Kay Thomas Rhoades

Arnor Faye “Pug” Kay Thomas Rhoades passed away in the early morning hours of January 24, 2017 in Sulphur Springs, Texas.

She was born to the late Ira Julius and Eunie Madge Tolar Kay on July 17, 1924 in De Leon. She married E.G. Thomas (Sr.) June 22, 1942. Together, they had three sons, E.G “Tommy” Thomas, Jr, William Dewey Thomas and Steven Armo Thomas.

E.G and Pug lived in many places during their life together including Kermit, Odessa, Crane, and Electra but eventually returned to De Leon where they lived, were active members of First Baptist Church and she owned Faye Thomas Insurance until E.G.’s passing in January 1977. Pug moved to Sulphur Springs, Texas where she owned and operated Fashion Fabrics and Notions on the Sulphur Springs square. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was also very active in a local square dance club where she met, and later married, Jack Rhoades in March of 1980. After Jack’s passing in August 1989, she said many times how she was blessed to “have two of what most people never even get one of”. In order to be closer to her sister Wanda, she moved to Winnsboro and lived there before returning to Sulphur Springs for the final time.

Arnor Faye is survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husbands E.G and Jack, her sons Dewey, Steve and Tommy (who predeceased her by only 6 days) and her brothers and sisters, Ira J. Kay, Chlonise “Chloe” Eunie Caldwell, William “Bill” I. Kay, Anita Blanche Randolph, Ruth Anderson and Wanda K. Sides.

Graveside funeral services will be held, in the De Leon Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2017. No formal visitation is scheduled.
