Meal-A-Day operates out of the Senior Citizens Center at 150 Martin Luther King Jr Drive in Sulphur Springs, TX. They serve hundreds of meals each day to seniors around Hopkins County. A significant portion of their clients are Diabetic. Special desserts are prepared and provided just for them.
“Sometimes there aren’t many choices for them [Diabetics].” The volunteer cooks tried a new recipe this morning, a Pear Crisp. Meal-A-Day also tries to used up the odds and ends food items donated. “Sometimes we just don’t have enough of a food to give to everyone”, so special dishes like this fill the bill.
The Crisp was a perfect match using up a recent donation of several large cans of pears.
