“Updated” Indian Summer Days At Heritage Park; Dutch Oven Cooking Contest Winners

The Hopkins County Museum and Heritage Park held Indian Summer days and the Dutch Oven Cooking Contest Saturday. Candle dipping, archaeology digs, Native American dancers and story tellers were present for children. All exhibits were open and in use. Black smiths, butter churners, and the grist mill were all in full swing.

Dutch oven cooks were at work most of the morning and by 11 a.m. the food was ready to be consumed. Donnie and Katie Martin won Best in Pot. First Place winners in the Meat Category were Diane Flagtrot and Sharon Richmond. Brittany and Chris Wilson were first in Vegetable. Richard Watkins placed first in Bread and Melinda and Paul Hitt were first in Dessert.

In the Youth Division Hunter Warren placed first; Michael Wood, 2nd; and Petee Price, 3rd.
