Lady Cats Set School Record With Win

The Lady Cats’ volleyball team set the school record for victories in a season and tightened their grip on second place in the district as they cruised by Mt. Pleasant, 3-0 at the Sulphur Springs Middle School Gym Friday. Score was 25-15, 25-10 and 25-10. The win was the 29th of the season for the Lady Cats, the most in school history. Last year’s team had 28 wins.

The Lady Cats can wrap up second place in the district with a win next Tuesday night at Marshall. Friday the Lady Cats were led by Rita Hill and Kaylee Jefferson at the net. Hill had 9 kills and Jefferson 7. Autumn Tanton added 6 and Mieke Van Benthem 5. Tori Moore had 24 assists and 2 service aces. Jefferson and Anden Hammack had one service ace apiece. Hammack had 9 digs, Moore 7 and Imani Taylor 4. In Block Assists, VanBenthem had 4, Hill 3 and Tanton, Jefferson and Madi Vickery 1 each.

If the Lady Cats finish second, they will meet Forney in a bi-district playoff. Forney defeated the Lady Cats in tournaments at Garland and Wills Point early in the season.
