Avon Scott

Scott picFuneral Services for Avon Scott, age 91 of Peerless, will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Peerless Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Scott officiating and Rev. Doyle Hayes assisting.  Interment will follow at Peerless Cemetery with Donald Hopper, David James, Michael James, Dylan Scott, Colton Wheeler and Chase Harry serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Bryan Scott, Larret Scott, Kaden Evans, and Carson Deaton.  Visitation will be held Monday, August 1, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Avon passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at his home in Peerless.  He was born January 19, 1925 in Peerless, the son of George Thomas and Elsie C. (Patterson) Scott.  He married Opal Marie Bain on July 18, 1942 in Cumby; she preceded him in death in 2007.  Avon retired with the Texas Highway Department having worked in maintenance and was a member of Peerless Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sons, Rev. Wayne Scott and wife Diane, of Sulphur Springs; Billy Scott and wife Linda of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Barbara Scott Hopper and husband Donald of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Bryan Scott, Carrol Wheeler, Laura Hahn, Kim Harry, Tammy Hopper, Kelly Deaton, Karen Evans and Donald Hopper, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Brittany Scott, Dylan Scott, Sarah Scott, Colton Wheeler, Faith Wheeler, David James, Michael James, Jessica Harry, Chase Harry, Larret Scott, Kelsey Scott, Kaylee Blount, Hannah Deaton, Madison Deaton, Morgan Deaton, Carson Deaton, Kaden Evans, McKayla Evans, Isabella Chamness; great-great-grandchildren,  Emerson James, Hadleigh James, Olivia James, Waverly James, Danny James, David James, Easton Scott, and Kenlee Scott.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice McQueen and grandson, Tony Gene Scott.
