Well, here it is… my first Chamber Connection!  My name is Lezley Brown and I have been named the new President and CEO of the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce.  It is truly my honor to serve Hopkins County in this role, and I wanted to say thank you for all of the support already given by numerous members of Hopkins County. As a Chamber, we look forward to finding new ways to promote and serve our local businesses and industries, and to becoming even more integrated into this place we all love and call home.  Please feel free to stop by the Chamber and say hello!

 

Dairy Festival Coronation Pageant was held Saturday, June 18, at the Civic Center Auditorium

Congratulations to Miss Sadie Evans, our newly crowned Dairy Festival Queen! Sadie was crowned the 58th Annual Hopkins County Dairy Festival Queen last Saturday evening. Emma Boyett was named first runner up, Anne-Marie Winborn received second runner up, and Lauren Helm was named third runner up. Congratulations are due to these ladies and to the Dairy Festival committees for all of their hard work.  What a successful week for Hopkins County!

 

Ribbon Cutting for Splash Kingdom was held Monday, June 20th from 5:00-7:00pm

Splash Kingdom is now open in Greenville. Their ribbon cutting was held June 20th from 5:00-7:00 p.m., and it was truly an impressive sight.  This promises to be a wonderful place for families, adults, and children to enjoy and offers a great way to cool off this summer and fall.  Be sure to spend some time there!  They are located on I-30 in Greenville.    

 

Ribbon Cutting for Foster’s Place Restaurant, June 24th at 7:00 p.m.

Please join us welcome Foster’s Place Restaurant to the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce as we host their ribbon cutting on Friday, June 24th at 7:00 p.m.  If you have never made it to Pickton to enjoy a delicious meal, great music, outdoor seating, and the largest selection of beer in East Texas, now is the time to go!  They are located on Hwy 11, just past the Pickton sign.

 

Grand Opening, Ribbon Cuttings & a Connally Street Bash will be held Tuesday, June 28, 4:30 – until for Al’s Diner, Celebration Antiques, Inc., and the Potato House.

There will be food, drinks, and live entertainment by Enola Gay, Jeff Redding, Jaci Reed, Pitty Pat, and a few surprises beginning at 4:30 p.m. for the ribbon cutting at The Potato House, 204 Main Street.  At 5:00 we will move to Celebration Antiques at 210 Main Street for a ribbon cutting and music by Pitty Pat and Enola Gay.  At 5:30 Al’s Diner, 204 Main Street, will entertain us with delicious food and drinks and entertainment by Enola Gay, KSST; Jeff Redding, JR Services; and Jaci Reed, Hopkins County Teen American Idol; as we have Al’s ribbon cutting.  This will be a fun evening and everyone needs to mark your calendar for Tuesday, June 28.

 

Meet and Greet the New Chamber President Thursday, June 30th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Come by the Chamber and meet the new President and CEO of the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce.  The come and go reception will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  I look forward to meeting and seeing many of you!

 

Ribbon Cutting for The Chocolate Finale at noon on Thursday, June 30th

Please join us for a ribbon cutting for The Chocolate Finale at noon at the Chamber of Commerce.  We are excited to officially welcome The Chocolate Finale to the Chamber.  They will have a chocolate fountain for you to enjoy.

 

Grand Re-Opening for Tully Nationwide Insurance from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 1st

Come by and support Jason Tully as he holds a Grand Re-Opening for Nationwide Insurance from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The official ribbon cutting will be held at noon.  His office is located at 109 Jefferson Street, just off Celebration Plaza.

 

25th Anniversary of the Independence Day Celebration on Celebration Plaza slated for Saturday, July 2nd

Mark your calendars for a stunning and memorable night of a free concert and fireworks presented by the Sulphur Springs Symphony League.  The concert begins at 8:00 p.m. with fireworks to immediately follow. It is an event that should not be missed.  Bring your families, your lawn chairs, or your picnic blankets and enjoy the sights and sounds of Independence Day in Hopkins County.

 

Affiliated Driving School, Tuesday, July 19th at the Senior Citizen’s Center

Karon Weatherman is offering an Affiliated Driving School at the Senior Citizen’s Center on Tuesday, July 19th. The class is good for ticket dismissal and/or 10% off of your liability insurance. The discount is good for 3 years. The cost of the class is $15.00 for Insurance Discount or $25 for Ticket Dismissal.  Call 903-885-1661.

 

Adult Leadership Class being offered for the Fall!  Sign up Now!!!

Lynda Hager reported that she would be offering an Adult Leadership Class starting in August for anyone who is interested.  The Adult Leadership Class is a community leadership development program sponsored by the Hopkins county Chamber of Commerce.  The course was created in 1989 with the concept of offering leadership training and community involvement for emerging business and community leaders. Leadership Sulphur Springs is a nine-month session, with meetings held once a month. For more information, please call the Chamber of Commerce at 903-885-6515.

 

Celebration Plaza’s Friday night movie will be E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.  There will be a book signing on Saturday, June 25th from 2-4 p.m. at The Bookworm Box, 206 Main Street, by author CM Healy. Then, the Celebration Market will be held on Celebration Plaza from 6-10 p.m.  DJ Rugg will be performing that evening during the Market.

 

Welcome to our new Chamber members!

This week we welcome Schlotzsky’s Café and Bakery to the Chamber.  Schlotzsky’s will be opening in the middle of July for business.  Schlotzsky’s offers sandwiches, soups, pizza, and salads as well as Cinnabon cinnamon rolls.  We are excited and thankful to have them join our Chamber and our community.

 

Whew, summer is such a busy time!  Make sure that you get out this week and support our local businesses. Shopping local is best, and we are thankful for them!

Splash Kingdom Ribbon Cutting

The Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for the newly opened Splash Kingdom, located off of I-30 in Greenville, Texas, on Monday, June 20, 2016.  Ambassadors and guests welcomed Splash Kingdom to the Chamber and then enjoyed a few hours of swimming, splashing, and fun.  Splash Kingdom will be open from May 28th– August 21st Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.  These hours of operation are also effective from August 27th-28th and September 3rd-5th.
