Jessie Mae Childs-Thomas

A Celebration of Life service for Jessie Mae Childs-Thomas, age 82, of Sulphur Springs, have been scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, April 30, 2016 at MLK Church of Christ with  Bro. Delante Jackson and Bro. Borris Sims officiating. Robert Lee Franklin, Robert Charles Timmons, Bill Barrett, Reginald Thomas, Jeramie McGill and Demetrius Pryor will be serving as pallbearers and Larry Donnell Childs, Anthony Wayne Williams, Aundre Glenn, Jr., James E. Williams, Jr., Arthur Spain and Robert Johnson, Jr. serving as honorary pallbearers.  Interment will follow at the East Caney Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.

Jessie Mae was born on July 4, 1933, in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Herman Childs, Sr. and Rosia Lee (Lindley) Childs.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include: two grandsons, Odell Pitts and wife Arisha of Denver, Co. and Samuel Thomas of Sulphur Springs; one granddaughter, Angela Thomas-Childs and husband, Kirk of Caddo Mills; nine great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; five brothers, Manual Childs and Robert Curtis Childs, both of Sulphur Springs, Billy Joe Childs of Wichita Falls, Roy Lee Childs of Como and Hal DeForrest Childs of Waco; one sister, Fronia Williams of Sulphur Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice Thomas, Sr.; one son, Maurice Thomas, Jr.; five brothers, George Childs, Arthur Childs, Sr., Herman Childs, Jr., Henry Childs and Charles Childs; three sisters, Eddie Faye Childs, Juanita Johnson and Margaret Rose Glenn.
