Funeral services for John Isom, age 91 of Como will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Austin Baxley officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Academy Cemetery with Russell Bearden, Austin Baxley, L.D. Baxley, Travis Baxley and Bryan Terry serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour and a half before the service.
John passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. He was born on November 2, 1924 in Como, the son of Dewey and Mable C. (Smith) Isom. He married Hazel Crawford on August 16, 1953 in San Diego, CA. She preceded him in death in 1957. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War; was a member of the Sulphur Springs VFW, was retired from A. K. Gillis and Sons as a construction worker and of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his daughter, Eva Phillips and husband, Danny of Alba; grandchildren, Pamela Terry and husband, Bryan and Russell Bearden; brother, Phil Isom of Chico, James Isom of Bridgeport and sister, Dewena Crowell of Rockwall.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
