Jackie “JJ” Prothro

“JJ” Prothro, 19, of Commerce passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015.

Jackie “JJ” was born in Greenville, Texas, on November 19, 1995. He was a 2014 graduate from Quinlan Ford High School. “JJ” enjoyed back- roading, horseback riding, dancing, football and was the “life of the party” wherever he was.

He was employed by CW&W Contractors.

Survivors include his mother, Shawna Prothro and Paul Stevens of Commerce; his father, Jackie Prothro Sr. and Kendra Vejar of Lubbock; his two sisters, Stephanie Wickert & Travis of San Antonio; and Savannah Stevens of Campbell; and, his step brothers and sister: William Blake Vejar, Anthony Vejar and Brittany Vejar; his paternal grandmother, Wanda Rosenbalm and Matt of Commerce; his great grandmother, Lavonne Bennett; his nieces: Piper Wickert and Paisley Wickert; his uncle, Daniel Hagston (Cheryl); his aunts: Leah Carter (Buddy), Angela Patrick and Tammy Wampler (Eric); and, his cousins: Elizabeth, Dustin, Emily, James Prothro, Jennifer Wampler, Tiffany Wampler, Brooke Hagston and Damion Hagston.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bill Prothro; his maternal grandparents: Fred Hagston and Mildred Newsom; his two uncles: James Prothro and Billy McKinney; and, his aunt, Jennifer Hagston.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Cross Trails Cowboy Church,  4761 FM 1563, Fairlie, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Travis Wickert, Ronnie Wooten Jr., Garrett Jackson, Billy McDonald, Roddrick Jackson, Isaiah Pickrom, Chad Willington and Blake Vejar.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Prothro and Hunter Rumbaugh.

Burial will be at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce.
