Tira News By Jan Vaughn

We want to express our sympathy to the family on Johnny Joslin. He passed away on Sunday. A “celebration of life” memorial service was held on Wednesday at Community Bible Fellowship Church, followed by a meal/reception at the Tira Community Center. A fund to help with funeral expenses has been set up in Johnny’s name at Alliance Bank. Please keep the family in your prayers.

The Tira City Council will meet at the Tira Community Center on Tuesday, June 2nd, at 6:00 p.m. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Billy Joe Clayton. He lost his home and belongings to fire on Monday night.

Regina Payton spent Memorial weekend with her parents, Floyd and Martha Payton. Martha says, “We did a lot of country driving, viewing Cooper Lake – and what a beautiful sight with the lake once again filled with water.

On Sunday we attended church at Tira Methodist and a fish fry at the home of Linda Parsons and Buddy Stilts. Louis Moore and Joe Don Joslin were the cooks. They did a wonderful job of preparing, frying fish, French fries and hush puppies. The ladies prepared tea and desserts. There were twenty in attendance on such a rainy day.” She adds, “Thank you Linda, you are very brave.”

Morgan Joslin, Scott Glover, Gregg Williams, and Andrew Kiest flew to Mississippi on Memorial Day to give rides in Scott’s DC-3 plane.

Doris (Horn, Burkham) Moon and her daughter, Ruth Catherine Morrison, and Tiffany and I went to Euless on Saturday for a baby shower for Doris’ daughter-in-law, Erica, and soon-to-be-born baby Canaan. Erica is the wife of Howard Burkham.
Mark your calendars for the Tira Homecoming, which will be coming up on Sunday, July 5th. The program will begin in the Tira Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m., followed by a pot-luck lunch at the tables under the trees.
