William W. Childers

Funeral service for William W. Childers, age 93, of Emory, will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, April 3, 2015, at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Jeff Thompson will officiate. A private burial in Emory City Cemetery will follow the service. Visitation will be at 1:30 pm, one hour prior to service time.

He was born to Jessie Lee and Inez Spencer Childers on September 20, 1921, in Emory. Mr. Childers died Monday, March 30, 2015 at Senior Suite Care & Rehab. He married Melba Faye Herriage in Greenville on July 12, 1947.
Mr. Childers worked for the Texas Highway Department in Maintenance for many years. He served for some fifty plus years as a Deacon of Emory Baptist Church, where he was a member.
He served his country, during WW II, in the 88th Infantry Division, while in Italy.

Survivors include:
Daughter: Marianne Goode (Stephen), of Edgewood
Sister: Alene Spicer, of Emory
Grandson: Steven Fletcher
Great-grandchildren: Bailey Fletcher, Caleb Fletcher, Dyllan Bathgate
Numerous other loving family and friends
Proceded by: Parents; Wife in 2012; 1 son, Larry Childers; 2 Brothers, Jim Childers and Clarence Childers; 4 Sisters, Helen Gray, Lillian Cearley, Viola Morrow and Mary Frances Childers.
