Business Property Renderings Due at Appraisal District

Singleton appraisal

Right after the first of the year, the Hopkins County Appraisal District sends out forms to county businesses asking for a required rendering of all of their property used for production. Those forms are due back into the appraisal office by April 15.

Cathy Singleton, Chief Appraiser, said businesses are to report with detailed listings of everything from furniture to equipment used in their business. Singleton said that a business can report “same as last year” or same as last year with a listed addition or listed deletion. A request for extension past the April 15th date may be made but there is a 10% penalty for reporting after the 15th. She said it in the business best interest to make the report instead of paying the set fine for failure to report. The appraisal office will assist a business owner in preparing their rendition.

This is also the time to file for agriculture exemptions and for homestead exemptions. Notices will be sent out May 1.
