New Opportunities at the Sulphur Springs Public Library

Hope Cain, the Librarian at the Sulphur Springs Public Library, wants you to know about a variety of services offered to the public by the library.

A Spanish Language section has been established at the local library. Cain said that she wants the Spanish language community to let her know what they desire to have included in the collection.

Are you preparing to take the Texas Driver’s Permit test?  Why not practice before the big day? On the Sulphur Springs Public Library website you can access 10 free permit practice tests (English and Spanish)and access to the online handbook. The handbooks are for auto, commercial license and motor cycle as well. There is also a Q&A which answers important questions about applying for the driver’s test.

Learning Express is for adults and children is available online. For students, practice tests for the STAR test is available. For adults, a resume service is available. The online service formats the resume for you and is free. Practice for occupational tests are also available online.

Lone Star Legal Aid and Sulphur Springs Public Library have teamed up to offer an intake clinic for free legal services on March 18, 1-4pm at the library – 611 Davis Street North. Lone Star Legal Aid offers help to persons with low incomes for civil, non-criminal issues – Veterans benefits, custody and child support, divorce and family issues, employment, food stamps and other benefits, Medicare and Medicaid, wills, bankruptcy, consumer issues, education, federal income tax matters, housing, Social Security disability and estate planning. Lone Star Writing Workshop is a free training seminar, taught by publisher Bobbie Shafer and author Cathy Myers.  The 3 hour presentation includes a slide program of editing your work, formatting your manuscript, forming characters, plot arcs and promoting your work.
