Sulphur Springs City Council Will Try Again to Come up With a Sign Ordinance Change

The Sulphur Springs City Council will try again to come up with a sign ordinance change at tonight’s regular meeting at City Hall at 7 p.m. This is a first reading of an ordinance amending the Sulphur Springs Zoning Ordinance regarding off premise signage. The council will also consider taking action on an independent audit of the city for last year. City Manager Marc Maxwell will also present his Manager’s Report. In other business, the council will take action after discussion of an interlocal agreement with Franklin and Delta counties and after hearing a report on traffic stops and arrests. The council will then have two public hearings before taking up two first readings for ordinances setting up reinvestment zones for Clayton Homes and Ocean Spray. The council is also expected to call a May 9 election for council seats in places 1, 2 and 3. Incumbents Craig Johnson, Clay Walker and Oscar Aguilar have already filed. Filing will continue through February 27.
