The manhunt is over as 46-year old Mark Covington of Pickton was arrested shortly after midnight in Hunt County. Shortly after 11 p.m. Friday, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Investigators and Deputies were alerted that the subject of the manhunt was at a club in Campbell at I-30 and Highway 50 in Hunt County. As lawmen closed in, the subject again took off running. Hopkins County lawmen aided by the Greenville Police Department and K9 Officer, Hunt County DPS and Hunt County Sheriff’s Deputies set up a perimeter and captured the man. The suspect had been on the run since Thursday night when he first fled from Hopkins County Sheriff’s Investigators and Deputies into a large wooded area off of FM 2285 near Pleasant Grove. Shortly after noon Friday, Hopkins County lawmen went to a motel along I-30 after the man had been seen in that area. He left before officers arrived Mark Covington is now in the Hopkins County Jail for a parole violation.
