Sheila Boyd shares, “We enjoyed the grandkids this last weekend. I think they had a great time. This year we were saddened after loosing Debbie Layton this week, but as was said in the service and by the family, she loved giving and this time of year. We will carry on her legacy by continuing that. I am very thankful for the time I have with my family and friends. If I have learned anything, I have learned that each day is a gift from God. Don’t hurry off and not take the time to tell someone you love them. It has become a tradition at my house. We always say, ’I love you,” before saying goodbye. Happy New Year to you all!”

We want to extend our condolences to the family of Debbie Layton. Debbie was the daughter of Melvin and Barbara (Lawson) Penny and was married to Larry Layton. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Joyce Dodd reports that she and William had 16 guests for Christmas lunch. Those attending included Michael McNiel, Tonja Jones, Rob, Brad, Tanya, Trenton, and Matthew Dodd, Stuart, Tiffany, Emery, and Elli McPherson, Maegan, Alyssa, Gavin, and Ethan Shelton and friend D. J. They opened gifts after lunch. She adds that her granddaughter, Mandi, didn’t make it home for Christmas, but they visited with her by phone. She says, “It was a wonderful day, spent with family!”

Jacob and Tiffany Peugh and their children enjoyed celebrating Christmas with Jacob’s family at lunch on Christmas Eve.
Jacob, Tiffany, Morgan, Tyler, Collin, Kenden, Jaidyn, Morgan’s friend Lydia, and Chip and I attended the Christmas Eve service at First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. After the service Brianna Cartwright and Dixie and Brantley, from Beaumont, came for a visit. They had spent some time with Landon, Laiken, Rylan, and Brailon Joslin, prior to coming to our house. Landon, Laiken, and the boys celebrated Christmas with Laiken’s family on Christmas Eve.

Morgan, Kenden, and Jaidyn Joslin attended a Christmas brunch with Malcolm Joslin and his friend Tanja and her family on Christmas morning.

On Christmas night Chip and I hosted our family Christmas dinner. Delayne Vaughn, Jacob and Tiffany Peugh and Morgan, Tyler, Collin, Kenden, and Jaidyn, and Morgan’s friend, Lydia, and Landon, Laiken, Rylan, and Brailon Joslin joined us for a traditional Christmas meal and gift exchange.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and hope the new year brings many blessings.
