I’m out of town & using my iPad, so the news is in the body of the email this week.  If you have any questions, please call me on my cell phone, 903-438-6688. If possible, please add my usual tag line from a past column. Thanks so much! Jan

Kim and Lee Beck got to sit on the front row of the Trace Adkins Christmas show in Greenville last Friday. Kim shared, ” He put on a great show, adding some Celtic flair to some traditional holiday tunes.” Continuing the busy weekend, they enjoyed the City National Bank Christmas party at the Civic Center on Saturday night and the Northeast Texas Chorale performance on Sunday afternoon.

Yvonne Weir, Brenda Allen, and I also met at the Civic Center, on Sunday afternoon, and enjoyed the wonderful presentation of “Once Upon a Christmas.

Sherry Smiddy, Powell Vickery, Chanse Fite, Brandi and Daylee all attended the  Tira Christmas dinner on Friday. They enjoyed the food, being with friends and family, and “of course, Santa!”

We had a good group for the party. Chip and I left the community party and went to B.J. & LuDonna Smither’s home for our Sunday School party, where we enjoyed finger foods & an ornament exchange. On Tuesday evening, Tiffany & I attended our Women On Mission Christmas party at the home of Johnny & Kathie Wells. We had great food & fun!

Sherry Smiddy spent four days attending a conference with her coworkers last week. Fifteen Field Managers, from six states, traveled to Austin for the event. Tracy Buie opened her home to serve as the conference center. Sherry comments, “Tracy and Gordon’s hospitality made our time together wonderful!”  On Wednesday night everyone met for dinner at Guero’s on Congress Avenue. The weather allowed them to walk to and from the hotel to a restaurant, which was “the beginning of a perfect conference.” Thursday was filled with team-building exercises, including a wonderful improv presentation, which was a new experience for most. Several presentations and demonstrations filled the afternoon. Everyone learned something new. A paddle boat cruise on Lady Bird Johnson Lake was the setting for dinner that night. Sherry shares, “The skyline of Austin is beautiful at night – add the holiday lights along the lake shore and the view was breathtaking! The ‘man-in-the-moon’ was smiling down, as we stood by the fireplace on the top deck.” On Friday morning they had breakfast together at the Magnolia Cafe on Congress Avenue. Sherry says,  “Hugs and goodbyes were said and each of us began the journey home, realizing more then ever how blessed we are to be part of he West Region and NORC at the University of Chicago. The conference began as a group of coworkers, but, after this short time together, we departed better acquainted and better equipped to do our jobs.” She describes the conference with four words – “Leadership, Learning, Lively, and Lovely!”

Thursday of this week, Daylee, Sherry, and Powell went to Yesterland Farm in Canton, with the North Hopkins school group.  Around 11:00 the rain set in and the two bus loads of kids came home with a rain check for the spring.
